In this course, I share the approach I use in my own work, focusing on observation, controlled layering, and thoughtful use of color. My goal is to help you build confidence in your own way of seeing and interpreting the world.

Drawing Projects
At the end of the course, we'll complete three finished drawings together: a botanical tulip drawing, a cherry with a reflective surface, and marbles with soft focus and subtle shadows. Each project highlights different blending techniques and drawing elements including reflections, layering, and soft edges, giving you a well-rounded set of skills you can apply to any subject.

the artist behind MS Fine Art Studio. I’ve been working professionally with colored pencils since 2009, developing a deep understanding of the medium and a passion for creating detailed, realistic artwork.
Growing up in my mom’s print shop, surrounded by calligraphers, bookbinders, and illustrators, I was drawn to the precision and beauty of realism — capturing light, depth, and fine detail on paper felt truly magical. That passion has stayed with me, driving me to push the limits of what’s possible with colored pencils.
With over 15 years of experience, I’ve honed my craft through dedication and a love of the process. My work has received national and international awards, and has been featured in American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, Southwest Art, and International Artist Magazine, among others. I also teach, write tutorials, and share insights through artist talks to support others on their creative path.

We’ll start by diving into materials — exploring different pencil brands, paper types, and essential tools like sharpeners, erasers, and blending supplies — so that you'll know exactly which materials work best for your artistic style.
Module 3 & 4
Blending, Color, and Light
Next, we’ll focus on pencil pressure and blending techniques to create smooth gradients. You’ll practice layering, burnishing, and using solvents for seamless transitions. Then, we’ll explore color theory, values, and lighting, learning how to build complex hues, and create depth.
Module 5, 6, & 7
Creating Finished Drawings
